HP Service Desk always shows attachments in a dedicated area at the bottom of the form. This area is only visible when the current entity has one or more files attached. Showing this area makes the form grow in height, which may cause an unpleasant side effect when the user is navigating through a result set of entities using the Next and Previous buttons in the toolbar.

The Attachments tool window in PROLIN Smart Client 10 is always visible when a particular type of entity supports attaching files, regardless of whether files are attached or not. However, it can be collapsed or expanded by the end user and docked at any side of the owning form.

A notification message will appear at the bottom of the Attachments tool window when there is a problem with the FTP server (for example, when it’s offline). In HP Service Desk, a similar message appears, but only after an attempt is made to save the current master entity.
